The radio propagation modeling is very useful when making the planning of wireless communications networks, however, even though there are propagation models for different types of cities, none of them has been designed to predict the path loss for the city of Cuenca and its particular characteristics. Also, the process of determining an adjusted propagation model to reflect areas of Cuenca is presented, based on data acquired by an application developed for smartphones. With this application, also measurements are made to provide the coverage area parameter in a web application. A measurements campaign made in antennas located in defined representative areas are described respecting the norms and recommendations given by ARCOTEL and ITU. In the measurements, the signal intensity in function of distance to base stations is obtained. These measurements are compared with the prediction of the propagation models selected, of which the Xia - Bertoni model was the best. To adapt the model, the least mean square error between the predicted values of the model and measurements was minimized.
