Item Afrontamiento espiritual y calidad de vida en personas con esquizofrenia en un hospital psiquiátrico(2019-06-14) Galarza Parra, Jhessenia Natalia; Bernal Sarmiento, Luis AlbertoSchizophrenia is a mental illness that affects the proper functioning of those who experience it. The disease can lead to the development of spiritual coping strategies in order to reduce the discomfort caused by this circumstance and thus improve the quality of life of people. This research was quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive and cross sectional. The aim was to describe the frequency of use of spiritual coping strategies and perception of the level of quality of life in people with schizophrenia in the Center of Rest and Addiction in the psychiatric hospital Humberto Ugalde Camacho in the city of Cuenca. The participants were 30 people between 19 and 67 years old with diagnosed of schizophrenia. The collection of information was carried out through a sociodemographic survey, the scale of spiritual coping strategies and the revised quality of life questionnaire. MCGILL. Data processing was carried out through the SPSS program. For the analysis of the information, were used techniques of descriptive statistics and the results were presented through tables and figures. There was a medium frequency of use of spiritual coping strategies (mean 33.25), those of a religious type were used mostly by women and non-religious ones by people who had sentimental couple The perceived level of quality of life of the participants was high (mean 1.97), those who had a sentimental couple presented higher levels in the physical, psychological, existential and in the total quality of life.Item Dificultades y malestares físicos al leer en estudiantes de la Universidad de Cuenca(2018) Bermeo Cevallos, Sofía Samantha; Coello Erráez, Fabiola Elizabeth; Galarza Parra, Jhessenia Natalia; Bernal Arellano, Walter MarceloIrlen Syndrome is a perceptual distortion, which includes the symptoms of visoperceptuals difficulties and physical discomfort, which can hinder the adequate development of reading, considered as an important tool at Academic Level, especially in college students. Therefore, this descriptive investigation with a quantitative, non-experimental approach aimed to describe perceptual difficulties and physical dislikes when reading in university students. Participants were 641 students from the different faculties of the University of Cuenca, selected in an incidental way from approximately 15,913 students. The instruments used were a sociodemographic survey and the Perceptual scale of reading Irlen (PSRI), Section1. Data processing was carried out through the SPSS, and for the analysis of the information, techniques and procedures of the descriptive statistic were used. Results show that participants have a slight level of DVP and MF when reading, which represents a. 5% incidence in each variable; However, 58.7% of the sample presents DVP suspicion as well as a 51.6% MF suspicion when reading. It is concluded that Irlen Syndrome incidence is .10% of the studied population on a slight level, that is, 6 of the 641 participants. It is recommended to carry out new research with university populations by taking into consideration other variables such as personality factors and conditions of application of the instrument.Item Estilo de vida de los estudiantes de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca, en el periodo 2023-2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-02-19) García Jara, Daniela Carolina; Galarza Parra, Jhessenia NataliaLifestyle implies a set of daily habits and behavioral patterns that constantly interact with social, economic, psychological and cultural influences. Thus, this routine is considered fundamental for the development of a full state of health, capable of avoiding, to a great extent, the appearance or progression of chronic non-communicable diseases. It is considered that university students, due to the characteristics present in their stage as emerging adults, implement behaviors that are determinants of the type of lifestyle of the future stages of the life cycle. The general objective of the study was to describe the level of lifestyle of university students of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca. The specific objectives were to determine the dimensions that predominate in the styles and to identify the level of lifestyle according to the sociodemographic variables sex, age, marital status and academic cycle. The study had a quantitative approach, descriptive scope and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. A total of 255 students participated in the study. The FANTASTIC Lifestyles Self-Assessment Test, adapted to the Chilean population, was used. It was found that students mostly had an appropriate lifestyle. The dimensions that scored higher were alcohol, tobacco, driving, work, and family. The dimensions that scored lower were physical activity, introspection, and personality type. According to sociodemographic variables, younger students, females, singles, and those in the first, third, and seventh cycles had a better lifestyle.Item Inteligencia emocional en estudiantes de octavo año de la Unidad Educativa República del Ecuador-Cuenca en el periodo 2023-2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-11) Garvin Pérez, Jhon Alexander; Galarza Parra, Jhessenia NataliaDuring adolescence, a developmental process unfolds, focused on the exploration and definition of personal identity. Consequently, emotional intelligence competencies cultivated during this period emerge as valuable assets for the effective management of emotions. These skills not only enable the handling of inherent emotional complexities during this phase but also play a crucial role in guiding individual thoughts and behaviors. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the dimensions of emotional intelligence based on sociodemographic variables among eighth- grade students at the Unidad Educativa República del Ecuador in Cuenca during the 2023-2024 period. The study employed a quantitative approach, employing a non-experimental, cross- sectional, and descriptive design. The participants consisted of 77 students in the evening session of eighth grade in General Basic Education. The instruments utilized included the Wong-Lang Emotional Intelligence Scale in Spanish and a sociodemographic data sheet. As a result, there was moderate development in the dimensions of emotional intelligence, except in the assessment of others' emotions. Finally, there were distinct scores in emotional intelligence based on sociodemographic variables, gender, age, parallel, and family coexistence.Item Inteligencia emocional en la selección de fútbol 11 de la Universidad de Cuenca, en el periodo 2023-2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-04) Ureña Ureña, Ángel Mauricio; Galarza Parra, Jhessenia NataliaThe dynamics to which athletes are exposed leads them to face constant exposure to emotional, tense, stressful reactions due to great demands, which can affect their performance, especially when they are in the competition period; Developing and promoting emotional intelligence as a skill that allows you to identify, understand and regulate your own emotions and those of others, focused on sport, is an important contribution for all the benefits it can provide. The objective of this research was to describe the dimensions of emotional intelligence in male players of the University of Cuenca soccer team in the period 2023-2024. We worked with a population of 30 athletes in training who practice 11-a-side football as a sport, aged between 18 and 29 years. The study was quantitative, descriptive in scope and non-experimental and transversal in design. A sociodemographic form was applied to identify the variables age, marital status and faculty, and the emotional intelligence scale. High emotional intelligence was found in all its dimensions, as well as in the total score. The most developed dimension was assimilation, followed by regulation. The least developed dimension was the interpersonal one. During the last three years, several studies support an increase in depression in health personnel after the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, the general objective of this research was to describe the levels of depression and spiritual coping strategies of General Physicians in Hospital Functions at the José Carrasco Arteaga Specialty Hospital during the period 2022-2023. It had a quantitative approach, a nonexperimental, transversal design type and was descriptive in scope. The instruments applied were: Beck Depression Inventory and Spiritual Coping Strategies Scale. The results of a sample of 71 doctors indicated levels of depression from mild to severe with a predominance of moderate level. In relation to the use of religious coping strategies and the most frequently used non-religious coping strategies, religious coping strategies had a low frequency of use, and non-religious strategies had a high frequency. There was a statistically significant association between the tendency to use or not use religious and non-religious coping strategies with the tendency to present depression or not. That is, doctors who had greater use of religious spiritual coping strategies had lower levels of depression, while doctors who had greater use of non-religious spiritual coping strategies had higher levels of depression.Item Niveles de engagement laboral en docentes y administrativos de la Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Políticas y Sociales de la Universidad de Cuenca, en el año 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-03-14) Espinoza Pineda, Mateo Sebastián; Galarza Parra, Jhessenia NataliaInstitutions need people who are dedicated and have vigor for the tasks they have to perform to avoid compromising their physical and mental health, causing absenteeism, inadequate interpersonal relationships and low productivity at work. The objective of this research was to describe the levels of engagement of teachers and administrative staff of the Faculty of Jurisprudence and Political and Social Sciences of the University of Cuenca-Azuay, in the year 2023. The research had a quantitative approach, a descriptive scope, a non-experimental design and was cross-sectional. The population consisted of 35 participants, 26 people who make up the teaching staff of the four careers and nine people from the administrative staff of the Faculty of Jurisprudence and Political and Social Sciences. The instruments used were a sociodemographic form for the faculty's teaching and administrative staff and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale. It was found that the faculty and administrative staff had a high level of general engagement. Likewise, in the dimensions of vigor, the very high level predominated, in dedication, the high level, and in absorption, the very high level. The dimension of vigor was higher in people with one year of service in the faculty; the dimension of dedication was higher, with a maximum score, in people with part-time work, in addition to people with one year, more than 5 and more than 20 years of service in the faculty; for the dimension of absorption, the highest score was in people with more than 20 years of service in the Faculty of Jurisprudence and Political and Social Sciences.
