Item Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas tradicionales para el manejo del dolor reumático en el pueblo originario de Saraguro 2018.(2019) Cobos Calle, Juan Ignacio; Freire Zurita, Daniel Alejandro; Ortiz Segarra, José IgnacioBackground: Rheumatic diseases generate morbidity in the native population of Saraguro, it is important to have a global approach to the disease from a cultural perspective. Objective: Describe the traditional knowledge, attitudes and practices for pain management of adults suffering from rheumatic diseases in the community of Lagunas de Saraguro in 2018. Materials and method: A qualitative study of phenomenological and CAP type was carried out on older participants suffering from rheumatic pain. Data collection was carried out through focus groups and in-depth interviews. The information was processed with Atlas. Ti-6. 2. Results: Osteoarthrosis, arthritis are the most frequent pathologies in research. The study population is mostly female, among farmers and ranchers. The wear and tear of daily work, accompanied by negative energy and environmental factors results in musculoskeletal pain. Perception varies among people, which leads them to make different decisions, such as waterfall baths, infusions, ointments, rituals. For the management of pain in the community, ancestral agents such as: “curanderos”, “sobadores”, “hierbateras”, “visionarios” develop their activity. Conclusion: The community is dedicated to agricultural and animal breeding, to which they attribute in part their discomfort, added to negative energy and nature by the climate, so apart from the physical discomfort is added an emotional and spiritual aspect that is specific to each person. For data collection, focus groups and interviews were carried out. The information was processed in the Atlas.ti 6.2 program.Results: daily work effort, energy and environmental factors lead to different musculoskeletal pain. In pain management, medicinal plants are mostly used in rituals with infusions, ointments, among others.Conclusion: the participants attribute the pain to the imbalance of energy that affects both the physical and emotional part. Healing must be comprehensive and include these two components. Medicinal plants are used in various ways to treat chronic pain.
