    Mecanismo de lesión y descripción del manejo de las fracturas radio distal, en pacientes atendidos en el área de traumatología del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso en el periodo, enero a diciembre del año 2015

    Objective: To describe the mechanism of injury and management applied to patients with distal radius fractures in the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, January to December 2015. Method: A descriptive, retrospective study was conducted in which the universe is all patients with distal radius fractures who were hospitalized in the traumatology area of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. The data were collected through medical records, with the prior authorization of the director of research. The results were measured using a form (Annex 2). For the analysis of the results, measures of frequency, percentage, average and mode were used. Results: A total of 1097 patients, who were hospitalized in the area of traumatology at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, were verified for different reasons, finding 104 patients with a distal radius fracture, obtaining a prevalence of 9. 48%, in the year 2015. 104 patients with distal radius fractures were studied, the highest frequency was male with 71 patients (68.27%), and female with 33 patients (31.73%); the age most affected was in a range of 10 to 19 years old, the average was 30 years old and the mode of 13 years old, students presented higher risk of suffering this pathology with 47.1%. The main cause was to fall from a height greater than the plane of support (48.1%). The management that was carried out was the closed reduction and immobilization with plaster (39.4%), followed by the treatment with open reduction and percutaneous fixation (20.2%). Conclusions: The prevalence was 9.48%. The majority of the patients were male students between 10 and 19 years of age, being the main cause, falling from height greater to the plane of support and being the treatment applied, the closed reduction and immobilization with plaster
