    Tabaquismo, pobreza y enfermedad en la ciudad de Cuenca. Tabaquismo y su relación con las condiciones socioeconómicas y culturales de la parroquia Totoracocha, Cuenca 2002-2003

    Part of the project: Tobacco, poverty and disease Cuenca. It is a quantitative study, descriptive epidemiology of smoking in the population of the parish Totoracocha. It was chosen as study universe all the inhabitants of this parish (23 767 inhabitants); 1of families as shown in the prior drawing of homes. The objetivosfueron, determine the relationship between smoking and socioeconomic conditions in this parish and identify the degree of association between smoking and poverty. The variables with which they worked were: age, sex, marital status, religion; occupation, characteristics related to cigarette smoking as smoking, smoking, smoking, costs. Data were collected through anonymous intoaccount, which were tabulated using the EPI-INFO and EXCEL programs. Upon completion of the work showed that the 29 th respondents smoke, most are medium conglomerate, men smoke more frequently (80.45) than women (59.54). The start into this habit is mostly teenage (15-19), and smoke from 1 to 4 cigarettes a day with a daily spending to less than $ 1 in purchasing; although 93,10de smokers know the risks to which they are exposed when they do
