    Determinantes sociales de la violencia familiar y sus secuelas en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes del Colegio José Benigno Iglesias, periodo 2015-2016

    Background: According to WHO (World Health Organization) domestic violence is present in most societies; in different parts of the world, between 16% and 52% of women experience some form of domestic violence so it remains a problem for public health, since the repercussions are reflected in children and adolescents who watch or are also violated by their families (1). General Objective: To identify the social determinants of family violence and its consequences for the academic performance of High School students José Benigno Iglesias Biblián County, Period 2016 Materials and Methods: The study was qualitative and quantitative, descriptive cross, the universe was represented by 230 students, the statistical calculation was performed to obtain a random sample of 88 students. Results: The results obtained were physical violence with 42,04%, psychological violence 40.9% and in a lower percentage sexual harassment with 3.4%, being the most affected the female sex in an average percentage of 17.42%, front To 11.36% of males. Conclusions: social determinants related to domestic violence are socioeconomic status 58%, lack of communication and affection to parents and children, family dysfunction 6,81%, migration 43,18%, these determinants influence the good performance in 47.7% according to the new evaluation systems implemented by the Ministry of Education
