    Afrontamiento de adultos ante el duelo por pérdida de los padres en una funeraria de Cuenca

    This research has as general objective to describe the coping strategies in adults after the mourning because of the death of their father and/or mother. The study was quantitative and the descriptive design was cross section. The research was made with 45 people, distributed in: 28 women and 17 men who had psychological assist in “el Centro de apoyo al duelo (CAD).” The instruments used were Sociodemographic Record, Inventory of Complicated Grief (IDC), and Coping Strategies Inventory (CSI). Among the main results it can be highlighted that social withdrawal is the most used coping strategy followed by the problem avoidance. Parallel to this result, solving problems is the least used strategy. After the IDC analysis, the results could be classified by absence and intensity of complicated grief. It was identified that 9 people have a serious presence of complicated grief; 25 moderate presence; 10 slight presence and 1 person does not have it. As a conclusion, the participants who use less problem solving as a coping strategy show moderate presence of complicated grief. The presence of a complicated grief in the studied population could be because of the fact that the most used coping strategy is a predictor of complicated grief.

    Afrontamiento y bienestar en adolescentes indígenas y mestizos en Unidades Educativas Fiscales de Saraguro y Cuenca

    Coping and well-being are two components of mental health that have become the object of study in the branch of contemporary Psychology. The aim of this study is describe the styles of coping and the level of well-being in natives and mestizo adolescents. The approach was quantitative, with a transversal design and descriptive scope. Therefore, it were used the Adolescent coping scale (ACS) of Frydenberg & Lewis (2000) and the Psychological well-being scale (EBP) of Sánchez-Cánovas (1998). The participants was 66 adolescents, of which 32 belong to the Fiscal High School Inka Samana of the canton of Saraguro and 34 to the Fiscal High School Juan Montalvo of the canton of Cuenca. The ages of the participants were between 17 and 18, they were in the second and third year of the unified general high school. The results allow us to identify that the style of coping most used was that aimed at solving the problem. The most used strategies are: strive and succeed, look at the positive and worry. The level of well-being was medium with tendency to high values according to the applied sub-scales of subjective psychological well-being and material well-being; it is evident that the material well-being is higher according to the perceptions of the participants. In addition, there are significant statistical differences in the natives and sex variables a coping and well-being constructs.

    Análisis de unidades de orientación educativa en los departamentos de consejería estudiantil de los colegio de la provincia del Azuay

    Educational Guidance Units are issues that have been for many years which are one of the main points to be dealt with in Educational Guidance manuals in our country. These units have focused topics such as sex education, learning, motivation, programs against drug abuse, etc. This research aims at analyzing the Guidance Units, using as indicators the planning, development and evaluation of results in the Departments of Student Ministry of the Azuay Province. Through this research it was able to be identified from the theoretical foundation tools to be used by educational psychologists to develop guidance units, plus analysis of planning techniques that were used in ancient DOBEs to develop Guidance Units held. Finally the relationship between theoretical models (ideal) and models applied (real) in the Department of Student Council is established. The study population was 80 professionals responsible for the Departments of Ministry of education officials, chosen by stratified random sampling, considering the financial support and the number of counselors per institution. The techniques of data collection were questionnaires administered to the professionals selected; it was also conducted semi-structured interviews with four educational psychologists; and direct observation of documents, conditions and services provided by the Counseling Department.     Análisis del proceso de evaluación psicológica en los Departamentos de Consejería Estudiantil de la provincia del Azuay

    The situation of the Student Counseling Departments in the Province of Azuay is not very clear due to the lack of descriptive or evaluative studies that can offer the necessary guidelines in order to intervene or implement progress actions. For that reason, the Ministry of Education, through the School of Psychology of the University of Cuenca, proposes the intention of evaluating such Departments through the project called “Diagnosis of the Role and Performance of the Student Counseling Departments of the Province of Azuay.” Our investigation originates from this macro project, and it specifically requires to study the topic “Analysis of the Psychological Evaluation Process in the Student Counseling Departments of the Province of Azuay.” Its objective is to determine the extent to which the Student Counseling Departments know and apply the methodologies proposed for the Psychological Evaluation. This research process presents a cross-section quali-quantitative approach based on a retrospective description with the application of a structured-base-and-topic questionnaire (survey) and questions for consolidation and confirmation of specific information (semi-structured interview). The interpretation of the results allowed us to know the strengths and weaknesses of the psychologists of the DECES. The most important piece of information was that a higher percentage of psychologists know various theories and evaluation tools which are taken advantage of during practice.
