Comportamiento mecánico del concreto reforzado con fibras de bagazo de caña de azúcar
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-11-11) Espinoza Carvajal, Marlon Jonathan; Espinoza Carvajal, Kenny Joel
The topic of the research that we are now going to describe focuses on the study of the incorporation of natural fibers to a cement matrix. First of all the state of art was assessed to verify the existence of studies with similarities with the topic that might serve as references. Already in the field, we began with the collection of natural fiber in the Monterrey mill, (MALCA). Then we proceeded with the isolation of the fiber for a period not longer than three months; this period of time helps the fiber to have a natural drying process in order to prevent insects and bugs to degrade the bagasse. After this time, we proceeded with the curing of the natural fiber to avoid its degradation and to make it water-repellent by lowering the absorption rate. Once this process has been completed, we continue with the characterization testing of the aggregates and the cement. With the data obtained in the laboratory we designed the standard mixture. The readjustment of the standard mixture is given by the lack of fluency in the mixture. The testing specimens are being developed for later testing at the laboratory. Once the requirements and benefits of the design are fulfilled, we proceed to the incorporation of fibers in percentages of the 1.50, 2.50, 5.00 and 8.00 in relation to the volume of the mixture to be manufactured. The specimens for each percentage of fiber are elaborated and they are subsequently tested at the laboratory in order to obtain the resistance values both to single compression and to traction by flexing. With these data we evaluate which features and peculiarities the different concretes have with their fiber rates. Finally, the production cost of a concrete reinforced with natural fiber (CRFN) is calculated, and compared to the production cost of a concrete reinforced with synthetic fibers.

Densificación de la ciudad. Aproximación desde la arquitectura
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2011-11-11) Cuenca Rosillo, María de los Angeles; Espinoza Carvajal, Kenny Joel; Moscoso Orellana, Oscar; Ordóñez García, Jorge Antonio; Ortega Ortega, Edgar Fernando; Peñafiel Ortega, Cristian Eduardo; Tenesaca Castro, Jaime Enrique; Peñafiel Encalada, Esteban Gastón; Pérez Soliz, Germán Santiago; Pérez Soliz, Iván Vladimir; León González, Pablo Armando; Zalamea León, Sergio Antonio; Moreno Núñez, Adrián
The present study hypothesized primary, middle or identify precise factors that determine the procedures necessary to densify the city, ie, increase the average density of the cities and increase housing densities, so that they can apply to our reality and everything is transformed into government policies for urban growth. A preliminary step consists of the chronological analysis of the historical evolution of cities, reviewing new urban concepts raised at the beginning of the twentieth century, allowing a clear view of the principles of re-ordering and densification of the "new towns" principles that are the basis for comparison and future development of criteria. Once these factors research focuses his study in Sao Paulo, Bogota, Medellin, Montevideo, Santiago, Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca and Loja, to go much deeper into the description of examples paradigmatic collective housing both as settlement city which have been or are relevant in the context of each city. Through the application of a sheet collected relevant data in each set and metropolis, which allow charting summaries, for applying a "rubric" in which compares each settlement according to parameters set. This comparison allows obtaining results through which identify conditions setting a guide so that, applying the principles identified, can become the basis for an ideal model of densification of the city.

Influencia del suelo natural inclinado, en la forma de la vivienda vernácula en Azuay
(2018-07-05) Jara Espinoza, Pablo Sebastián; Espinoza Carvajal, Kenny Joel
Vernacular architecture has an undoubted aesthetic quality, the form seems to be the result of a successful relationship between architecture and nature. Like the forms of nature, vernacular architecture adopts a morphology result of adaptation to constant natural factors. The identity of this architecture is found in the forms generated by traditional ancestral constructive processes. It is evident that vernacular architecture lacks ornaments, it is not an architecture conceived to be seen, on the contrary, it is conceived to adapt to the landscape from inside. Consider the place as the main factor when making decisions of spatial order, possibly bring us closer to understand this architecture, to recover the knowledge it contains to apply them in contemporary society. This research analyzes the incidence of relief (inclined natural floor), in the form of vernacular housing, in the South of the Ecuadorian Andes. It aims to identify, in which way two of the particularities of place generated by the inclination of the ground: extensive visuals and limited sunlight, affect the construction of the empty elements in the architectural form. As well as, how the contact of the building with the inclined floor defines the structural strategy of the project. Analyzed formal responses help to understand grafhically the incidence of the relief in the form. Generating in this way a theoretical and graphic framework of the spatial relationship between the natural environment and the vernacular architecture
