The Estimate of the mesiodistal diameters of canines and premolar mandibular is an important aspect for the analysis of the mixed dentition. The rates applied globally are Moyers and Tanaka – Johnston, actually, Brazilian researchers develop a new way use two equations, one for men and other for women, and it integrates size of the 1st molar permanent mandibular. The present research ask to define what method is the most accurate for calculate the mesiodistal diameters of canines and premolar mandibular. Were analyzed 94 models of study, 41 men and 53 women, on ages around 12 and 31 years old, the sample was choose convenience, was measured all the teeth from the 1st left molar mandibular permanent to the 1st right molar mandibular permanent with a digital caliper Mitutuyo. The correlation between the values obtained for the different indices and the real values was estimated for Pearson’s test. The comparisons between real and obtained values were realized with Wilcoxon’s proof. Additionally the student’s test served for realizes comparisons of real values with regard to sex and mediarcada. The three methods has a positive correlation statistically significant with regard to real value (p=0.000), While Melgaco’s system presented a higher rank of correlation (R=0.735). The three indices show differences statically significant with regard to real value (p=0.000), all were higher values than the mesiodistal diameters real and canines and premolar. Didn’t exist differences statically significant between right and left side (p=0.6). Referring to sex didn’t find differences statically significant on right side (p=0.15), while on left side noted this differences (p=0.04). Based to these results, it concludes that Melgaco’s system is the most attached to our population
