    Prevalencia y factores asociados a intento autolítico en pacientes atendidos en el Hospital Misereor Gualaquiza 2015 – 2020

    Background: attempted suicide is a notorious public health problem, due to repercussions in the social, family, economic and health spheres. Objective: to determine the prevalence and factors associated with attempted suicide in patients treated at the Misereor Gualaquiza Hospital 2015 - 2020. Method: observational, analytical, cross-sectional study. A total of 583 clinical records of patients diagnosed with attempted suicide who met the inclusion criteria were reviewed, a random probabilistic sampling was applied. The information was collected in a form, tabulated and analyzed in the SPSS program through descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis. The data was presented in simple and double-entry tables. Results: the prevalence of attempted suicide was 9.3%. The attempted suicide were presented in males, young adults, residents in rural areas, single with primary education, mestizos in 5.3% and 5.5%, 5.8%, 5.1%, 6.3% and 5.1% respectively. Intoxications were the most used type with 88.9% and 93.6% performed the attempted suicide at home. History of depression, anxiety, excessive consumption of alcohol and/or drugs, and previous AI were factors that presented 19.51, 3.99, 4.10 and 59.88 times more probabilities of presenting a new suicide attempt, with a statistically significant relationship (p value <0.001). Conclusions: the prevalence of attempted suicide in the city of Gualaquiza was 9.3%. It was associated with several risk factors such as: depression, anxiety, excessive consumption of alcohol and/or drugs, and a history of previous attempted suicide.
