(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-02-19) Encalada Alvarez, Erick Byron; Heras Benavides, Dalila Nataly
Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to understand and express emotions owned and third parties, which allows their adequate regulation to make decisions and resolve problems effectively, and thus adapt to the environment. On the other hand, addiction for Substance abuse is considered a disorder that affects various biological, social and psychological, leading to maladaptive behaviors and a strong emotional imbalance characterized by unpleasant emotions. For this reason, it is proposed as an objective describes the level of emotional intelligence of users with residential treatment for addictions substances in the CETAD FE, year 2023 and as specific objectives, to describe the levels of emotional intelligence according to the dimensions of attention, clarity and emotional repair and identify the level of emotional intelligence, according to sociodemographic variables: age, level of academic education and treatment time. The study had a quantitative approach with a transversal descriptive scope and non-experimental design. 39 users participated, to whom the Trait Meta Mood Scale-24 was applied (TMMS-24) and a sociodemographic sheet. The investigation determined that the greatest Part of users present optimal levels of emotional intelligence, with the exception of dimensions of emotional attention, which could cause users to develop maladaptive behaviors, avoiding maintaining substance abstinence psychoactive. For these reasons, it is stated that this type of intelligence is a fundamental pillar in the treatment of addictions.
