    The research work focuses on analyzing the profitability within the Ecuadorian commercial sector, particularly in Cuenca. Acknowledged for its pivotal role in the national economy, the commercial sector's understanding of profitability stands as a fundamental pillar for sustainable business growth and economic development. The methodology employed amalgamates qualitative and quantitative approaches, encompassing an extensive literature review and the compilation of financial data utilizing a fixed effects panel model. Key financial indicators such as liquidity, solvency, and profitability are scrutinized to assess companies' financial health and earnings generation capacity, establishing significant ranges based on local parameters and prior studies. The outcomes disclose pivotal insights into Ecuador's commercial sector profitability, delineating trends and comparisons between local and national enterprises. These findings furnish valuable information for entrepreneurs, investors, and regulators, fostering an indispensable comprehension amid a dynamically changing economic environment.
