The basis for this work is a theoretical analysis of the educational philosophy of Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778). A bibliographical and documentary approach was used in its development, making major reference to the work The Emilie or Education (1762). It also becomes a historical, political and educational reference for use in the study of educational sciences. Rousseaunian's educational philosophy has much to do with Ecuadorian pedagogy because it is significantly linked to the development and change of students within the educational system. The ideas of the philosopher's education are reflected in the 2016 Social Sciences Curriculum with the objectives and skills that are present from the first year of General Basic Education to the last year of General Unified High School. In the same vein, it is important to highlight Rousseau's contribution to our understanding of the requirements for the education of children and young people. However, it seems that the author had a clear bias against women in his conception of the role that women should play in society. The subject of women from the perspective of Rousseaunian´s philosophy continues to be much discussed in a variety of educational contexts.
