    The study aimed to analyze the activity of leukocyte alkaline phosphatase in patients with leukocytosis treated at the IESS Hospital in Cuenca in 1988. For this purpose, cytochemical techniques based on Kaplow’s method, later improved with the use of Naphthol-AS-Phosphate as substrate, were employed. The Sigma method allowed an adequate correlation between biochemical and cytochemical results, identifying enzymatic activity through the formation of a visible pigment in leukocytes.
