Repartidores y precariedad laboral en la plataforma PedidosYa de la ciudad de Cuenca
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-08-29) Delgado Merino, Jairon Vinicio; Paño Yáñez, Pablo José
The purpose of this study is to find out how labor precariousness manifests itself in the delivery workers of the PedidosYa platform in the city of Cuenca. The growth of platform capitalism in the global and local context is changing the ways of trade, consumption and work. Therefore, the main objective of the study is to analyze, based on the experiences and working conditions, where and/or in which labor spaces the dimensions of labor precariousness are present. Likewise, factors that are enabling the development and growth of these jobs are described. Thus, from a qualitative research approach, tools and techniques were formulated to allow the collection of information that reveal the characteristics proposed to be investigated. The main results show that the platform's delivery drivers face precarious conditions and situations, given that: workers are employed as self-employed, which deprives them of labor rights and social protections; labor instability is also a condition that is present; it was also found that the remuneration for the service is unfair; finally, it was concluded that the delivery drivers do not have sufficient control over the work processes. In view of the situation in the countries of the region: high rates of informality and unemployment, migration phenomena, evident technological penetration and the changes occurring within societies, it was found that there are several factors that are driving these new and attractive forms of employment.
