Reading comprehension is considered an aptitude to achieve the understanding of things. Thanks to it, people can understand what they read, both the meaning of the words and the idea that the read text wants to convey. Although reading comprehension allows a better type of reading, not all people are able to achieve a comprehensive reading. On the other hand, the studies of thinking and especially the skills that can be developed in the educational field allow to improve different aspects of learning, especially reading comprehension. For this reason, the purpose of this monographic work is to describe the relationship between thinking skills and reading comprehension, considering them as learning enhancers. In order to achieve this objective, a documentary research of different bibliographic information sources was carried out, among which we find books, academic articles, studies, research, publications of authors and international organizations. Later, an analysis of the information was carried out in order to proceed with the writing of the chapters. All the work carried out allowed us to understand how the development of thinking skills favors the improvement of reading comprehension from the moment a student begins to have contact with reading at the elementary school level. Finally, it is concluded that thinking skills allow reaching high levels of reading comprehension, as well as the interdisciplinary and transversal nature of thinking skills and reading comprehension.
