According to the level of risk of injury, 82.82% qualified in the category of substantial risk and 17.17% moderate risk. Conclusion: A large percentage of the sample has a high risk of suffering injuries resulting from ankle instability, the highest percentage was in men with 62.62% corresponding to the age of 15-18 years.Item Grado de discapacidad y calidad de vida en usuarios con dolor lumbar crónico que asisten al Centro de Salud Nicanor Merchán, 2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-05-19) Orbe Cárdenas, Ginna Gabriela; López López, Deysi Anabel; Déleg Quichimbo, Clara LeonorBackground: low back pain is a fairly common condition, which in the long run leads to functional alterations that cause disability and worsen Quality of Life. Therefore, the evaluation must be comprehensive to know the degree of affectation; and, reduce as far as possible the high economic costs and labor absenteeism. Objective: to determine the degree of disability and Quality of Life in users with chronic low back pain who attend the Nicanor Merchán Health Center. Methods: observational, quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive and prospective study in 26 users with chronic low back pain in which the Chronic Pain Grading Scale, the Oswestry Disability Questionnaire and the Short Form 12 questionnaire were applied. Data were processed. in the SPSS version 28 program, by calculating measures of central tendency and dispersion. The results were augmented by descriptive statistics with simple and compound graphs, frequency tables and percentages. Results: users are between 20 and 64 years old, 53.8% were female and 46.2% male. 69.2% appeared average disability according to the Chronic Pain Grading Scale; and, according to Oswestry, 42% moderate functional limitation. Conclusions: chronic, acute low back pain in users with minimal to moderate disability; which, in turn, influences a lower Quality of Life. The higher the BMI, the greater the intensity of lumbar pain (p<0.05) and the lower the Quality of Life.Item Prevalencia y grado de severidad de incontinencia urinaria, en mujeres adultas mayores del Centro Gerontológico María Reina de la Paz. Cuenca, enero-julio 2019.(Universidad de Cuenca, 2019-09-04) Sarmiento Martínez, Gabriela Cristina; Vásconez Lojano, María Estefanía; Déleg Quichimbo, Clara LeonorBackground: Urinary incontinence is a public health problem in the elderly population, since it directly affects the quality of life of the patient in all its bio-psycho-social sphere, generating a series of associated health problems and a great economic cost for the patient (1). General objective: To determine the prevalence and degree of severity of urinary incontinence in elderly women of the Gerontological Center “María Reina de la Paz”. Methodology: A quantitative, observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional investigation was conducted with 55 older adult women, between 66 and 98 years old, who attended the Gerontological Center “María Reina de La Paz”, to whom the questionnaires were applied. ICIQ-SF and Short-Term Pad Test to identify the prevalence of Urinary Incontinence and its degree of severity. Results: Of the sample studied (n = 55), 90.9% presented urinary incontinence, the ages of greatest prevalence ranging between 76-85 years old. The correlation coefficients obtained were -0.048 and 0.183 which would indicate a weak association between these variables. Conclusions: In the “Maria Reina de la Paz” Gerontological Center, there is a high prevalence of 90.9% of urinary incontinence in older adults, 62% have mild urinary incontinence, 30% moderate incontinence and 8% severe incontinence. The variables age, BMI and number of vaginal deliveries seem not to be related to the presence or absence of urinary incontinence, but a higher prevalence of this pathology was seen in overweight women.Item Valoración activa de dorsiflexión de tobillo en estudiantes de Fisioterapia de la Universidad de Cuenca 2019(Universidad de Cuenca, 2019-11-11) Andrade Granda, Angye Micaela; Déleg Quichimbo, Clara LeonorBackground: The restriction of the ankle towards dorsiflexion, can be cause or consequence of important mechanical and functional alterations, in addition to being associated with numerous musculoskeletal pathologies of the lower limbs. When evaluating, obtaining reliable data is substantial for the development of a diagnosis and future treatment; as well as the results and prognosis of the patients. Only through reliable measures, can we make predictions about future injuries. Hence its importance. General Objective: Determine the level of risk of injury to lower limbs through active measurement of the range of ankle dorsiflexion in the students of Physiotherapy at the University of Cuenca. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted in physiotherapy students of the University of Cuenca; applying the "Lunge Test" through the mobile application "Dorsiflex". The results are presented in frequencies and percentages using the SPSS software, version 25.0. Results: An information search was completed for academic purposes, evaluating 103 Physiotherapy students, 71 women and 32 men, with an average age of 21.77; of which 42.71% (n = 44) showed a high risk of lower limb injuries. Observing a statistically significant relationship between the decrease in dorsiflexion with the presence of pain (r = -0.157, p = 0.024), and with the history of previous injuries (r = -0.278, p = 0.001). Conclusion: In this study, a representative percentage (42.71%) of the participants presented a high risk of suffering lower limb injuries; as their ranges of ankle dorsiflexion were below the norm.Item Valoración de la postura en los niños de primero a cuarto año de Educación Básica de la Escuela Fiscomisional Salesiana Padre Carlos Crespi; y Programa de Intervención Educativa, Cuenca, mayo-noviembre del 2010(Universidad de Cuenca, 2011-11-11) Cárdenas León, Verónica Vanessa; Déleg Quichimbo, Clara Leonor; Zhindón Galán, Martha DalilaThis type of research, Participatory Action Intervention called Postural Assessment in Children in first through fourth year of elementary Fiscomisional Salesian School “Padre Carlos Crespi "and Educational Intervention Program was held in the city of Cuenca with a population of 457 children who underwent a postural assessment to determine the presence of musculoskeletal physiotherapy and management and make appropriate kinetic, and contributes to the development of knowledge, attitudes and practices through the creation of healthy environments, where the campus is the involved to achieve an educational unit with appropriate lifestyle for health that promote the smooth performance of their students.
