    Evaluación del impacto de un programa educativo sobre bienestar animal y tenencia responsable de mascotas en escolares de las unidades educativas mixtas del cantón Cuenca, 2011

    This project has as its objective to evaluate the impact of an educational program on animal well-being and responsible possession of pets in students, to achieve this we have taken into account relative ethical aspects, learning techniques, as well as current federal laws and procedures regarding Animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. The technique used was Ausubel’s significant learning. The questionnaire was applied before and after the intervention and 47 items were obtained every time. It was found that both groups could be compared by gender and instruction level with a value of p<0.05. Using t Student in in the pre-intervention no major differences were found ((p>0.05). Regarding knowledge there was a major difference when comparing both groups post-intervention and in proper attitudes we found changes in the experimental group without statistical significance (p<0-05). This study shows that an educational program has a big impact on modifying knowledge; however it's imperative that certain behaviors are reinforced throughout a certain period of time in order to achieve a change. It is recommended that further research is conducted so that in a future the subject can be added into a day-to-day educational syllabus.
