    The Semi-directed Colonization Project Upano-Palora undertaken and directed by the organism of local development Centro de RecuperaciónEconómica del Azuay, Cañar y Morona Santiago (CREA) during 1969-1974, offers from a territorial perspective an interesting vision of Ecuadorian Regional Planning and its constant change. The 47 years that have elapsed since the beginning of this project allowing, to identify what elements implemented by CREA have modified the original structure of territory through the project becoming a fundamental part linked to time pass, and generating an urban-rural development of the planning area. The present study will address the description, implementation and evolution of the program, considering key facts such as: physical environment, demography, economy, viability, infrastructure and basic services in order to determinate how they have influenced the current structuring from one side of Ecuadorian western territory.
