Item Repercusiones del embarazo y la maternidad en el rendimiento académico de las estudiantes de la Carrera de Enfermería de la Universidad de Cuenca - 2014(2015) Cuenca Chuni, Karina Alexandra; Espinoza Faicán, Mayra Verónica; Sinche Rivera, Elisabeth Cecilia; Cabrera Contreras, Guadalupe PriscilaBackground: Pregnancy and motherhood are facts that bring impact on academic performance when combined with the demands of school life, can be considered as an obstacle races mainly physical effort, such as nursing having to perform dependent care person. In this research some conflicts leading to a pregnancy and a parallel process of training maternity addressed. Objective: To identify the impact of pregnancy and motherhood in the academic performance of students of the School of Nursing at the University of Cuenca. Materials and Methods: A descriptive study with a qualitative approach was performed. We worked with a convenience sample of 68 students involving pregnant women and mothers of first, second, third year and the boarding of the race. Instrument: a survey conducted by the authors was applied prior informed consent. Results: Of the 68 students participating in our study, 25% of students respectively rose and / or low academic performance, despite her pregnancy and / or maternity leave has not been considered an obstacle to their studies, 14.7% lost year of study demonstrating not have the support necessary to accommodate the schedules of study. While 35.3% defected career because most reported not having enough time to cover their role as mother and student at a time.
