The present thesis consists of carrying out a functional and structural evaluation and a proposal for the rehabilitation of the pavement structure of the segment of the road called Panamericana Norte corresponding to the state road network E35, in a 9.5 km section between the Muñecas de Piedra and the Guangarcucho bridge. In a first stage, the Pavement Condition Index was measured, with which it was determined that the road was in poor to very poor condition and that the drainage system was in terrible condition. Subsequently, the parameters of the pavement were evaluated on the analysis of the measurement of the deformation of the road structure obtained with the Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), finding, by means of back calculation, average values for the Resilient Modules of the Subgrade (29.36 Mpa), Material Granular (75.06 Mpa) and Asphaltic Carpet (1624.00 Mpa), which confirm the result obtained with the functional evaluation. As a complement, 8 test pits were executed in order to determine the different properties of the layers that make up the pavement structure, including the California Support Value Ratio (CBR). Based on the results obtained, an analysis and comparison of the resistance of the subgrade determined in each method was carried out, trying to find a correlation between the parameters determined with deflectometry (Mrr) and the parameters determined with laboratory tests (CBR). It was not possible to find a correlation between the backcalculated modules and the CBR obtained in the laboratory because the amount of CBR data was not statistically significant. In a second stage; and, based on the conclusions of the first stage, a proposal for the rehabilitation of the suggested section of road was developed using the mechanistic empirical method. The Mechanistic Empirical Guide recommends performing calibration of performance criteria based on local tests and conditions; however, in this work it was only possible to calibrate the climatic database with information from the meteorological station of the Mariscal Lamar Airport and the Geological and Energy Research Institute (IIGE) located in Llacao, since there is a lack of information on the rest of the parameters necessary for calibration due to the little importance given to research in our country. Martha Cecilia Criollo Plaza 5 Finally, taking advantage of the proposed design by the GAD Cuenca to the Ministry of Transport and Public Works within the inter-institutional cooperation agreement; an evaluation of the incidence in the design of the use of modules obtained through correlation formulas and those determined from average deflections in the field was carried out, concluding that the literature is correct in warning that they must be very careful in their application, since these Mathematical models usually represent a specific type of soil.
