This project aims to provide visibility and recognition to contemporary popular figures from the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, through the design of three different illustrated characters applied to posters. The proposal arises from the fact that there has been a shift in how popular characters are perceived due to the evolution of society, digital media, and the limited connection that young adults have with contemporary characters of their own culture since the notion of popularity is associated with Internet personalities,"influencers". The selected figures have made a positive contribution to the cultural development of the city, however, their work is not widely recognized. Considering this, the project aims to highlight the careers of Catalina Sojos, a poet and children’s author; Carlos Freire an Ethnomusicologist and Amaru Zeas, 3D Animator. Emphasizing their professional careers and fields of expertise. To achieve this, a research and design process was developed to create characters with distinct personalities and elements that contribute to the narrative construction of them. The posters are conceived as graphic pieces intended for common spaces, with the aim of generating interest, memorability, and recognition of contemporary figures through direct visual impact.
