    Evaluación del estado nutricional en adolescentes de 15 a 18 años que asisten a los colegios “Francisco Tamariz, UNEDID, Latinoamericano y Luis Monsalve Pozo” del cantón Cuenca - 2009

    Objective: To evaluate the nutritional state, the levels of physical activity and the feeding standard in adolescents of 15 to 18 years in high schools of the city of Cuenca.Methodology This is a transversal and descriptive investigation, in which we evaluate the nutritional state, the levels of physical activity and the feeding standard in adolescents of 15 to 18 years in high schools Francisco Tamariz Valdiviezo, Unedid, Latinoamericano, Luis Monsalve Pozo. This is a randomized study that involved 300 students of the high schools before mentioned. The inclusions criteria were adolescents with ages between 15 to 18 years, excluding any adolescent who had a serious illness or was on a diet as same as pregnant women at the time of the study. Main Results The study included 300 cases, of which 55% are men and 45% are women. The average ages in general were 16.21 years, 16.17 years for men and 16.25 years for women. About the nutritional state 37% was normal. In relation to the physical activity 70.33% realized a low activity. With reference to the type of diet we observed that 78% consume a hipercaloric diet. In all these values we can demonstrate that the male gender has high prevalence. The 50 percentile in men correspond to 22.4 of BIM, meanwhile in the curves of the OMS is in 22.2 the percentile.
