This research seeks to identify the modifications of tastes and preferences of tourists as consumers in relation to the place of visit in two periods, the first being the time period prior to COVID-19 (2015-2016) and the second the scenario of tourist reactivation (2021-2022). The study has a mixed approach, where the qualitative part compares results with previous research and comparative cross-sectional quantitative data collection in the Christmas and carnival festivities of two different historical moments and with microeconomic variables such as income, tastes and preferences and quantities consumed. The data collection was carried out in six points of the city, by applying a random survey to 389 tourists and more than the 1800 data collected in the years 2015 and 2016 by previous studies. The results found conclude that there is no preference for a natural or cultural place to visit, since the consumption in the places of visit is distributed among the attractions. In addition, it was obtained that the propensity of consumption of a n atural resource (El Cajas) is low and the national tourist was identified as potential. Keywords: COVID-19. Preferences. Modifications. Tourist. Propensity to consume.
