    Aceptación de la Medicina Andina en el cantón Santa Isabel, 2017

    Background: andean medicine has reached a real boom in recent years, is currently used empirically that allows its daily practice in communities and parishes mainly achieved full development, being recognized by the population, and manifesting in the understanding, dialogue and respect for the rights of individuals. Objetive. To determine the acceptance of Andean medicine in the canton Santa Isabel, 2017. Methodology: The research is quantitative descriptive type cross - sectional, we worked with the inhabitants of the community Sulupali Santa Isabel parish, which was carried out a sampling calculation to obtain a population of 152 inhabitants. As an instrument applies to the form prepared by Álvarez Olivia (1), modified and tested by the authors; for approval he was subjected to a pilot and Cronbach's alpha was performed to obtain a result of 0.81, demonstrating that the instrument is reliable. In the analysis and tabulation of the obtained data the programs of Microsoft Word 2010, SPS version 15 were used. The presentation of the data was done in tables of frequencies and percentages with the respective statistical analysis. Results: the results have served to identify the acceptance of Andean medicine in the users of the community Sulupali Santa Isabel parish, identifying the most accepted people with 72.4% corresponding to the female gender, married 59.2% of Catholic religion with 86.8% and 53.9% of primary instruction. Conclusion: The users surveyed accept Andean medicine in their homes sometimes with 56.6%, the always 34.2%, that is to say 90.8% of the population and 9.2% do not accept Andean medicine, the affections The most frequently used by Andean medicine is the fright and bad air with an equal percentage of 28.3%, receiving Andean treatment with a value of 72.4%, improving its condition 59.9% and satisfying its needs, the 86.8% of users surveyed

    Actitudes y prácticas sobre el Parto Vertical, en el Hospital Luis Fernando Martínez, Cañar 2018

    Background: currently, vertical positions in childbirth are becoming widespread, where health personnel must provide care with favorable attitudes and positive practices regarding the different positions, allowing to increase their competence and confidence towards the user in the free position chosen at the time of work of childbirth. Objective: determine the attitudes and practices of health personnel in vertical delivery care, Hospital Luis Fernando Martínez, Cañar 2018. Method and Materials: descriptive cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach; With a finite universe constituted by 84 people that make up the health personnel of the Hospital Luis Fernando Martínez, for the collection of the data the survey elaborated and validated by Rodríguez H. (2015) was applied. The results were analyzed through the SPSS 22 program and presented in absolute frequencies, percentages and measures of average dispersion (X). Results: 45.3% of the studied population corresponds to the adult age group, of the female gender (85.7%), with a prevalence of professional nursing staff (36.9%) and nursing assistants (34.6%); with favorable attitudes to provide care and receive training in vertical delivery care by 75%; however, they consider that the vertical delivery care generates discomfort in the health personnel during the attention in 82.1%.     Actitudes, creencias y prácticas sobre el Papanicolaou en internas de enfermería Universidad de Cuenca, 2018

    Background: in Ecuador, uterine cervical cancer, the second most common type of cancer, the diagnosis of each year approaches 1600 cases of which 650 die with an average age of diagnosis of 54 years. Although we have developed strategies to reduce the incidence, the level of knowledge about the forms of transmission, as well as the prevention measures, continue to be deficient. Course objective: determine the attitudes, beliefs and practices on the pap smear in nursing career interns, of the university of Cuenca. Methodology: a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out. The universe is made up of a total of 79 internal nursing students from the University of Cuenca. The SPSS 22.0 procedure is a procedure for collecting data through a survey applied to the study population. The results are expressed in frequency tables and percentages. Results: the study population is between 22 and 23 years old (50%). It was determined that (63.3%) seeks information about Papanicolaou and (70.9%) what is important. The main barriers that limit its realization are; the fear of having pain during the same (49.4%), the fear of the result (43%) and the relation to the Papanicolaou practices, the (58.2%) has not had the Papanicolaou test. Conclusions: 59% have not had a pap smear. The barriers that hinder the realization of it; They are the fear of pain and the fear of the result.

    Aplicación de la mecánica corporal y riesgos ergonómicos en el personal de enfermería, Azogues, 2017

    Background: Body mechanics is a set of movements for the correct and harmonious functioning of the musculoskeletal system in coordination with the nervous system to avoid ergonomic risks and development of occupational musculoskeletal injuries (1). Nurses are susceptible to these risks because they perform repetitive activities and adopt uncomfortable or static postures (2). Objective: To determine the application of body mechanics and ergonomic risks in the nursing staff of Hospital de Azogues, 2017. Methodology: A descriptive, cross-sectional and correlational study was carried out. The universe consisted of 73 nurses and nursing auxiliaries. The evaluation of the nursing staff was performed during the morning, afternoon and evening shift in the different areas. For the tabulation of data we used the program SPSS version 15 and Microsoft Excel. The results were presented using tables of frequencies and percentages. Results: The female sex corresponded to 90.4%. 80.8% reported having received training on cargo handling. There is a high frequency of exposure to standing for a long period of time with 94.5% and sudden, forced, or unexpected movements of 89.0% (mobilization, change of position of patients). The prevalence of musculoskeletal injuries was 15.1%, mainly spinal injuries with 45.5% and low back pain with 27.3%. 65.8% applied body mechanics, presenting a higher frequency of nursing professionals, trained personnel and lower musculoskeletal injuries. Conclusions: It was demonstrated that body mechanics has a beneficial effect for nursing staff in reducing musculoskeletal injuries, so ensure that this practice is properly implemented to reduce absenteeism at work, improve productivity and increase quality of life, these aspects are considered important, reflecting that the poor use of body mechanics produced musculoskeletal injuries in nurses and auxiliaries, being more frequent in the latter one

    Circunferencia de cintura como indicador de sobre peso y obesidad en adolescentes de la Unidad Educativa de Sinincay, Cuenca 2022-2023

    Background: Obesity and overweight are metabolic diseases with the highest prevalence and incidence, characterized by excessive accumulation of body fat as a response to an imbalance of calories and lower energy expenditure, which is generating comorbidities in adolescence. General objective: to identify the waist circumference index as an indicator of overweight and obesity in adolescents from the De Sinincay Educational Unit, Cuenca 2022-2023 Materials and methods: quantitative descriptive study, type of diagnostic test validity. We worked with a finite universe made up of 250 high school students aged 14 and 19 from the Sinincay educational unit. The Quetelet index (BMI), waist-height index (ICT), Waist Circumference (CC) and Weight-Waist Circumference index (IPCC) were applied. To verify the reliability of the use, as well as the use of the programs: SPSS and Excel to process the data. Results: The present study consisted of a predominantly female population (69.9%), ages between 14 and 16 years (73.2%). The BMI of adolescents is normal-weight (41%), overweight (27.8%), Obesity (12%). And 8.5% low weight. In relation to the waist-height index, it was found that 46% (0.43≤ICT<0.51) is normal. The waist circumference ratio is 52% (0.44 ≤ IPCC < 0.80), followed by overweight 38% (0.80 ≤ IPCC < 0.98). Within the relationship between the variables waist-circumference - BMI / waist height - BMI there is a significant relationship (0.000). Conclusion: the IPCC could be considered together with other indicators to assess overweight and obesity.

    Conductas de riesgo y nivel de conocimientos sobre el virus del papiloma humano en adolescentes, Ricaurte 2017

    BACKGROUND: Throughout history, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) have been a serious public health problem, currently the Human Papilloma Virus stands out as responsible for one of the most frequent STIs. The aim is to create awareness in adolescents about the consequences of unprotected sexual activity, considering that adolescence is the period of greatest contagion of the Human Papilloma Virus, due to the beginning of early sexual relations or because their appearance is not apparent injuries, contagion is facilitated GENERAL OBJECTIVE: identify the risk behaviors and level of knowledge about the human papillomavirus in adolescents from 15 to 19 years of age of the "Técnico Industrial Ricaurte" 2017 school. METHODOLOGY: the research was quantitative and descriptive, we worked with a universe of 450 adolescents of which a sample was taken of 196 students from 15 to 19 years old who attend the Ricaurte Industrial Technical College. The instrument of Fidias, 2008 was used to evaluate the level of knowledge. To assess the risk behaviors, a survey elaborated by Centeno J was applied. The results are described in frequency and percentage tables; using programs such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, the statistical package SPSS version 23. RESULTS: the population studied was found% of: sex 51% men 49% women; marital status 92.3% single, 1.5% married, 6.1% in free union; age 54.1% 15 years, 20.9% 16 years, 19.4% 17 years, 5.1% 18 years, 0.5% 19 years; 9.2% does not reach the required learning, 20.9% is close to reaching them, 44.4% of adolescents achieve the required learning, 19.9% master learning and 5.6% overcome the required learning about HPV; in terms of risk behavior and age, the relationship was 0.018; significant value among the variables analyzed. CONCLUSIONS: Predominant risk behaviors are evident in students who have started their sexual activity and have more than one sexual partner. An important group claims not to know about the consequences of getting infected with HPV

    Conocimiento y aplicación de la mecánica corporal en el personal de enfermería que labora en el Hospital Moreno Vázquez, Gualaceo, 2017

    Background: body mechanics is an important issue for Nursing staff, where the correct use of body structure allows to prevent injuries and maintain a healthy body. General objective: determine the level of knowledge of body mechanics and observe the applicability of the principles of body mechanics, referred by the nursing staff of Moreno Vázquez de Gualaceo Hospital. Methodology: descriptive, transversal and correlational study, we worked with a finite universe of 32 nursing professionals and assistants. The information was processed in the SPSS 21.0 program, Microsoft Excel 2016. The data were presented in medium and medium frequency tables and statistical graphs were also made representing the results obtained, with their respective analysis. Results: 91.1% know about body mechanics. On definition 100%, elements 94.8%, alignment with 29.2%, balance 32.3%, and body movements coordinated with 33.3% of correct answers, principles, a total of 84.4% of knowledge was obtained. Regarding the observation of the application of the three principles of body mechanics, 53.3% of implementation was evidenced, observing lifting with 63.8%, pulling and pushing with 45.6% and turning or pivoting 50.6% of implementation. Conclusion: the nursing staff of the Moreno Vásquez Hospital showed to have pertinent information about the corporal mechanics, but at the moment of the application "there is no correlation", since the knowledge is not implemented, in the same percentage, in the daily practice of the Nursing professionals

    Conocimientos y actitudes frente a los efectos secundarios del tratamiento oncológico, en pacientes mayores de 18 años en la Organización Familias Unidas por los Enfermos de Cáncer, Cuenca 2016

    Background: The oncological treatments contribute to the quality and survival of patients with cancer, with the help of the science and technology are creating new cytostatic drugs that have improved the life expectancy of the oncological patients, in spite of this, its high power chemistry is not exempt from side effects. General Objective: To determine the knowledge and attitudes in relation to the side effects of cancer treatment, in patients older than 18 years of the organization United Families by cancer patients, Cuenca - 2016. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study, which worked with 70 patients who come to the organization "Families Nations by the sick with cancer" of Cuenca, who were applied a questionnaire developed by the authors, such information was processed in the program SPSS 22, analyzed with descriptive statistics. Results: The sample represented patients older than 60 years (47.1%), female sex (52.9%), from urban and area residents (54.3% and 61.4%); received chemotherapy the 35.7%, oncological surgery 27.2%, radiotherapy 7.2%. Know that the side effects presented are own of treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, 89.1% 95%, oncological surgery 96%); consider that there is treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, 58.6% 60%, oncological surgery 96%) and the duration of the same chemotherapy (60.8%, 55%, Radiotherapy Oncology Surgery 72%); in terms of their attitudes users go to the doctor when they present a side effect (68.5%), they do not consider abandoning treatment (75.5%), 95.7% have confidence in the treatment and 98.5% a positive attitude. Conclusions: Knowledge (72.4%) and attitudes (84.6%) are adequate compared to the side effects of oncologic treatment in patients of the FUPEC organization

    Conocimientos y prácticas que tiene los padres de familia en la postvacunación en niños menores de 18 meses, UNE-Cuenca 2017

    Background: Vaccines are protein particles of the suspension of inactive living microorganisms, which when administered induce an immune response that prevents the disease against which it is directed. The most important actions to grow human beings is the application of vaccines in the first 6 months of life. Thus contributing to the welfare of the population by receiving a vaccine, the body produces a response that creates defenses against the agent that is applied, so when the child is exposed to the disease and his body has elements prepared because of the vaccine. Objective: Identify the knowledge and practices that parents have in post-vaccination in children under 18 months in the health center National Unit of Educators (UNE), Cuenca 2017. Materials and Methods: A quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out. We worked with a finite universe of 90 parents who came with their children (as) to be immunized, was made during the months August to October 2017, as a technique was used to fill out surveys. Whose information was entered into the database of the statistical programs Microsoft Word, Excel and SPSS for their respective tabulation and analysis were exposed in frequency and percentage tables. Results: With regard to the knowledge of the 90 parents, a young age of 37.8% is considered to be between 21 and 25 years old, 90% of the sex being women, and a high percentage of women in civil status, showing that 50% are married. Regarding knowledge, they consider that vaccines are important 98.9%; likewise, they easily identify that vaccines serve to prevent infectious diseases in 94.4%. Regarding practices, parents stated that the place where the child is vaccinated is in the health center with 93.3%. Conclusions: Parents have a high percentage of knowledge and in terms of practices are good in the post-vaccination

    Conocimientos y prácticas sobre el autoexamen de mamas en estudiantes de la Carrera de Trabajo Social de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-2025

    Background: Breast cancer is one of the most serious health problems worldwide, as it is the most common carcinoma in all women. For this reason, breast self-examination is considered a preventive strategy that allows physical and visual examination of the breasts and underarms to identify any irregularities and visually examine the breasts and armpits to identify any irregularities. Objectives: To determine the knowledge and practices on breast self-examination in students of the Social Work Career of the University of Cuenca 2024-2025. Methodology: Descriptive study carried out in students of the Social Work Career of the University of Cuenca, with a finite universe of 192 students. The instrument used was a questionnaire made by Loli N. The results were analyzed in Excel and SPSS programs, presented in simple tables of frequencies and percentages. Results: 59.3% are students aged 20 - 25 years, 94.8% are self-identified single, 55.8% live in rural areas, 26.2% are new entrants, stratum IV predominates with 34.4%, 78.5% profess the Catholic faith, with gyneco-obstetric history 93% have no previous pregnancies, 93% had no childbirths, 80. 8% do not know if they have relatives with this disease and 90.1% denied having a personal history of breast cancer; 89.5% have a high knowledge in recognizing the importance of the examination and 64% of the participants perform adequate practices by maintaining a correct application technique. Conclusion: There is a high percentage of participants who report high knowledge and good practice of breast self-examination.

    Conocimientos y prácticas sobre los hábitos alimenticios en los estudiantes de la Carrera de Enfermería, Cuenca, 2017

    Background: In the university stage young people have marked nutritional needs, since in their daily routine there are disorders in the schedules to consume their food, do not eat a good breakfast, nor the meals at specific times, cause diseases such as overweight, obesity eating disorders, cardiovascular diseases among others. Objective: To determine the knowledge and practices about eating habits in students of the Cuenca Nursing Career, 2017. Materials and Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional cohort study was carried out, with a sample of 255 nursing students. As a technique was used the filling of a survey of the authors Rodríguez E, Holmes R. Knowledge and practices on nutrition, health and exercise in university students in Medellín-Colombia, modified and adapted by the authors. Results: It was that the university students do not have a correct knowledge on how to take a balanced diet, 25.5% think that the hamburgers, salchipapas, would contribute to a good state of health, all this is caused by bad practices and eating habits 55.3% sometimes eat breakfast in their homes while 7.1% never do, some of them prefer 6.7% ingesting chips, 28.6% frying, 52.2% choosing artificial juices or refreshments, 10.6% energizing, while 30.6% eat in the street consume considerable amounts of sugars during the day, when students arrive from the university at home 46.3% do not finish all their lunch , adding to this 34.1% never engage in physical activity. Conclusion: The study concluded that there is no adequate knowledge on the part of nursing students, they also have bad practices and unhealthy diets, inadequate distribution of meals during the day and poor eating habits such as not having breakfast, do not eat lunch, eat on the street and lack of physical activity

    Conocimientos y prácticas sobre signos y síntomas de alarma en gestantes, Cuenca 2016

    Background: the level of knowledge and practices of pregnant women on signs and symptoms of alarm in pregnancy can contribute to decrease maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. General objective: to determine the knowledge and practices on signs and symptoms of alarm in pregnant women receiving care in the health unit "San Joaquín". Methodology: a quantitative descriptive study on 100 pregnant women receiving medical care in the "San Joaquín" Operative Unit, data collection was performed after the signing of informed consent and through the use of a modified form of Ochoa and León (1) Using a pilot test in which demographic and study variables were included. The data analysis was performed in the SPSS version 15 program of free access. Results: the mean age was 25,40 years ± 6.1 years, with the group of 20-29 years being the most representative with 54% of the population, 60% dealt with domestic work. The least known signs and symptoms were: headache 25%; extreme fatigue 16%; swelling of feet 23%; lack of appetite 15%; face edema 18%; weight gain 35%; dizziness 33% and ringing in the ears with 25% of ignorance, in most cases the patients seek medical help in the presence of a sign or symptom of alarm.     Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de los cuidadores de niños menores de 5 años en prevención de quemaduras, Cuenca, 2018

    Background: Burns in children represent one of the most frequent serious and disabling accidents that exist. Most of these burn accidents can be avoided, as they are due to carelessness, in general domestic. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the infant mortality rate from burns is more than seven times higher in low-resource countries than high-income countries. General objective: identify the knowledge, attitudes and practices of caregivers of children under 5 years of age in the prevention of burns, from the Sub-Health Center of Tarqui parish, 2018. Methodology: cross-sectional descriptive study, we worked with N = 405 and n = 122 caregivers of children under 5 belonging to the Sub-Health Center "Tarqui", applying a survey based on the Párraga and Yagua questionnaire. Results: of the 122 caregivers of children, 45.9% are young female adults, 53.3% with primary education level. The knowledge on prevention of burns with respect to the use of electrical connections is adequate, since 43.4% know that the action after using a power tool is to lift it in safe places. In the attitudes, it was identified that 87.7% of caregivers always test the water before bathing the child and 96.7% explain to the child about prevention of burns. Finally, the practices on prevention of burns, 93.40% away dangerous products from children, about 70% use the back burner to cook and disconnect electrical appliances. Conclusions: caregivers of children under 5 years have knowledge, attitudes and proper practices on the prevention of burns. Although, we identified responses that could cause this type of accidents, such as: the frequency with which the child is observed while the caregiver cooks or while the child is playing.

    Background: according to the World Health Organization; the increase in the elderly population adds the incidence of chronic diseases. It ensures that at the level of Latin America between 60 and 85% of older adults does not exercise, which has resulted in a problem of broad health, being the main factor deficient knowledge about the benefits of exercise, which It influences their practice. Objective: to determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices of physical exercise in older adults who attend the diabetes and hypertensive club in Totoracocha Health Center. Methodology: for this study, was used quantitative descriptive research, cross cohort, we worked with a sample of 86 older adults who attend the Club of diabetes and hypertension Totoracocha Health Center. For sample calculation formula was used Pita Fernández. The data were processed and analyzed using SPSS 15.0 for free, Microsoft Excel 2010 program and presented in tables. The instrument applied was the survey elaborated by the authors and validated through a pilot plan to 30 older adults, in the Health Center No. 1-Pumapungo. Results: of the 86 older adults, 89.5% have a high awareness on the importance of physical exercise, 68.6% having a favorable attitude before of do physical exercise and 50% always do physical exercise

    Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas, sobre la manipulación higiénica de los alimentos en los padres de escolares de la Unidad Educativa Hermano Miguel Sigsig. Mayo-Noviembre, 2016

    BACKGROUND: the food handling is a set of indispensable measures; this ensures the food safety and food condition. The World Health Organization lay down, 1 in 10 people get sick each year from eating food contaminated. This produces disease as: amebiasis, Intoxications, among others (1). In the Sigsig town, it has been shown that in 2013, 515 out of 1000 cases have presented amebiasis, reason that we arises the research topic (2). OBJECTIVE: determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices on hygienic food handling in parents of Hermano Miguel School, Sigsig. May-November 2016. METHODOLOGY: it has been made a descriptive research of cross-section; we worked with a finite universe, represented by 145 parents of students from third to eighth of basic education. For data collection we used a survey released by United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture, which it was modified and validated by the authors through a pilot test. The survey was applied after the signing of informed consent. The analysis was performed using frequencies, measures of central tendency and tables according to variables, for interpretation, the information obtained were processed through the programs SPSS 15 and Excel 2010. USING RESULTS: of the 145 parents of schoolchildren, 75.6% have basic knowledge about the hygienic food handling, 89.9% have proper attitudes regarding the prevention of food contamination, and 60.3% put into practice the knowledge on the subject

    Consecuencias psicológicas y socioeconómicas en las adolescentes embarazadas atendidas en el área de gineco-obstetricia del Centro de Salud de Biblián, Cañar 2015

    General Objective: To identify the psychological and socio-economic consequences of pregnant adolescents seen in the area of Gynecology and Obstetrics Health Centre Biblián, Cañar 2015. Methodology: The research was quantitative, the same as was done in the area of Gynecology and Obstetrics Health Centre Biblián, with a population of 51 pregnant adolescents, by applying direct interview. The results are expressed by descriptive statistics using SPSS 15 program and the analysis is done through frequencies and percentages. Using result: Within the psychological consequences 47.1% expressed joy at the beginning of pregnancy as well as the changes, 64.7% have no rejection by family or spouse, identified 31.3 % are financially dependent on their parents, and it observed that the highest percentage of teenage pregnancies occurred in patients 15 years of age with (21.6%) middle stage adolescence, most were from canton Azogues (47, 6%). In terms of marital status 54.9% were cohabiting with respect to level corresponds to incomplete secondary education (49.2%). Conclusion: Through this research the psychological and socio-economic consequences in pregnant teenagers, who make up a high-risk group is determined, because they are subject to various factors such as poverty, migration, poor level of education and access to services involved health impact on society, and affect the development of young pregnant.

    Background: The beliefs and ancestral customs that were given some time ago by grandparents or great-grandparents, privilege women for care in pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. By using medicinal plants and natural products. Traditional practices go hand in hand with cultural aspects beliefs, religion and health of women throughout the pregnancy process until recovery. Objective: This research determined ancestral beliefs and customs that have women on care during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Chaucha-2014. Methodology: This is a qualitative study, in which we worked with 3 focus groups in the Chaucha parish, the first focus group included 6 women of reproductive age who have lived their stage of pregnancy, delivery and postpartum, the second group included 3 community midwives and the third 10 mature older who were given an in-depth interview. The information processing allowed structuring narratives of ancestral beliefs and customs that have women on care during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Results: This research helped identify the beliefs and customs that have women on care during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum; most of the population studied said that medicinal herbs as a curative and preventive medium is used during these stages. Conclusions: This research helped us to demonstrate the level of conservation of ancestral practices during the reproductive process of women that despite advances in technology, public health, still preserved in the Chaucha Parish

    Cuidados de enfermería en el dolor del recién nacido con bajo peso en instituciones privadas: Monte Sinaí, Fundación Pablo Jaramillo Crespo, y públicas: Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Hospital de Especialidades José Carrasco Arteaga de la ciudad de Cuenca

    Background: According to the WHO, low birth weight has caused approximately 5 million neonatal deaths annually worldwide, generating a greater number of hospitalizations, and the frequent use of invasive techniques that cause pain in the newborn. Objective: To determine the nursing care in the pain of the newborn with low weight in private institutions: "Monte Sinai", "Pablo Jaramillo Crespo Foundation" and public: "Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital", "José Carrasco Arteaga Specialty Hospital" of the city of Cuenca. Methodology: An investigation with a quantitative approach of descriptive-cross-sectional design was carried out in the neonatology service of public and private hospitals. Obtaining sociodemographic data and the level of care of the Nursing professional, analyzed with the SPSS V.20 program and described by means of simple frequency and percentage tables. Results: The instrument was applied to 69 Nursing professionals, where the age with the highest prevalence was 31-40 years with 50.70%, the academic level that predominated was the Nursing Degree with 94.2%, the range of experience in the neonatology area was 5 years or more with 37.7%. Regarding the level of knowledge in pain management in low birth weight infants, the respondents have a very good level of knowledge with 85.5%, while 14.4% have a good level of knowledge. Conclusions: There is a good level of care from Nursing professionals in pain management in low birth weight infants, both in public and private institutions.

    Depresión y ansiedad en madres de prematuros en la unidad de Neonatología del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, 2018

    Introduction: the premature newborn hospitalized in neonatology, due to their own conditions, has a high probability of suffering complications during their hospital stay, which leads to high rates of morbidity and mortality in this group of neonates, this fact has a great impact on the psycho-emotional state of the mother. Objective: To determine depression and anxiety in mothers of premature infants in the neonatal unit, Hospital Vicente Corral Mascots, Cuenca 2018. Materials and methods: cross-sectional descriptive quantitative study, conducted in the area of neonatology of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, by means of convenience sampling, we worked with a universe of 39 mothers of premature neonates, who after completing the inclusion criteria filled out the anxiety questionnaires and Hamilton's depression, the information obtained was processed and analyzed in the statistical package SPSS version 24, complying with bioethics standards; The results obtained were presented in frequency and percentage tables. Results: the sample was characterized by mothers with ages between 20 to 30 years (56.5%), residents in the urban sector (56.4%), civil union de facto (43.6%), less than 3 children (66.7%), household chores (66.6%); the frequency of the depression was of 61.6% and of the anxiety of 77%, in addition it was possible to determine both entities were more frequent in the marital status de facto and married, in those who had less than 3 children and in ages between 20 to 30 years. Conclusions: the frequency of depression and anxiety in mothers of premature infants admitted to the neonatal area were greater than 60%, Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca 2018.
