Item Prevalencia de mastitis subclínica mediante California Mastitis Test CMT en ganado bovino lechero del cantón Cuenca(2017) Alvarez Pogyo, Emerita Adelaida; Chuqui Murillo, Carmen Alexandra; Soria Parra, Manuel ElíasThe aim of the research was to determine the prevalence of bovine Subclinical Mastitis (SCM), by applying the California Mastitis Test (CMT) in 4.616 cows in milk production in 826 cattle raising farms distributed along the rural parishes of the canton Cuenca in the Azuay Province. The information was obtained from previous records and technical surveys applied to farmers. CMT results were analyzed according to the classification of Santivañez et al., (2013), negative, mild (+), moderate (++) and abundant (+++). Also, there was an analysis on the MSC's relationship with the variables such as; location, UPAs size, milking type, and production volume herd/day. Statistical analysis included frequency and contingency tables, chi-square test at a significance level of 0.05, SCM prevalence in cows was of 36,1±0,7%. In assessing the total of quarters a 17,6±0,3% of prevalence was determined. The study showed a significant relation (P<0,05) in some variables indicating the following; large UPAs (> 30 animals) cattle herds with high production (> 419 liters herd / day.) with a mechanical milking way (two milkings / day). In conclusion, it established that the prevalence of subclinical mastitis was in the study area was similar to the national prevalence established by previous studies. Also, factors such as UPAs size, production/herd/day, milking type, and milking times are related to the prevalence of subclinical mastitis SCM
