    Evaluación del desarrollo psicomotor en niños de 3-5 años de edad en los Centros de Desarrollo Infantil Municipales, Cuenca- 2018

    Background: Psychomotor Development is a set of events comprised of motor, perceptive and cognitive components. Therefore, an early assessment can detect alterations that affect a child's normal psychomotor development, and it allows for a timely and precise intervention that can further promote their development. General purpose: To determine the psychomotor developmental delay in children 3-5 years of age at Municipal Child Development Centers (Centros de Desarrollo Infantiles Municipales), Cuenca-2018. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional descriptive-type study. The universe for this study was the population of children 3 to 5 years of age who attend Municipal Child Development Centers in the city of Cuenca. The Battelle Development Inventory was used, which evaluates the following five areas of psychomotor development: personal/social, adaptive, motor, communication and cognitive. The 25 version of the SPSS software was used to tabulate the data Frequencies, percentages and for chi-square, variables were obtained. Results: The study allowed us to observe that 76.7% of the children exhibit a delay in their psychomotor development at 61 months of age and older  this population being the most affected, with a higher prevalence among boys.
