    Plan de gestión de residuos de aparatos eléctricos y electrónicos para el sector urbano de la ciudad de Ambato

    To address the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Management Plan in Ambato, it is crucial to begin with an introduction that contextualizes the importance and necessity of the plan in the urban context of the city. Ambato, as a growing urban center, faces significant challenges in WEEE management due to the rapid technological advancement and increased consumption of electronic devices. The overall objective of the plan is to develop an integrated WEEE management system based on a comprehensive diagnosis of the program implemented in the urban area of Ambato. The methodology employed includes the collection of information using primary and secondary sources, applying interviews to experts and surveys to local stakeholders. The data collected through surveys and interviews with representatives of various institutions and specialists in WEEE management reveal that a large proportion of the population does not know how to properly manage this waste. Lack of knowledge about collection points and the hazardous nature of WEEE components, such as lead and mercury, exacerbate the problem. Many citizens store this waste in their homes or dispose of it together with household waste, contributing to environmental contamination and posing significant risks to public health. Based on the diagnosis carried out, a WEEE management plan was designed, which will provide a road map for the reorganization of activities, from the current logistics to the final disposal of these wastes. This proposal contemplates strategies and improvement processes, a socialization plan focused on the citizenship towards a more responsible behavior with WEEE.
