The coordinative capacities are those that allow the subject to execute movements efficiently, accurately, and harmoniously through practice. Therefore, their development is of great importance in human being from early ages to adult ages; therefore, if they are not adequately worked in the first years of life, problems may arise in the future related to the integration of conditional physical abilities. The present study called “Folkloric dance program to improve coordination skills in middle school students of the “Unidad Educativa Angel Polivio Chavez” had the objective of applying a folkloric dance program to improve coordination skills in children. This is a quasi-experimental study since a folkloric dance program was implemented. The sample consisted of a total of 84 children from the “Angel Polivio Chavez” Educational Unit in the city of Cuenca. In order to know the level of coordinative capacities, the 3JS test was evaluated before and after the intervention, which allowed the evaluation of global motor coordination from a criterion perspective. Next, a 9-week folkloric dance program was applied, using three weeks for each rhythm (coast, highlands and east). Finally, a comparative analysis of the pretest and posttest on the effect of the folkloric dance program on the coordination capacities was carried out, resulting in significant differences in these capacities after the intervention.
