Thus, the present study aims to determine how the media construct discourses about the women‟s violent deaths, whereas, if they do it from an educational and preventive perspective could contribute to the eradication of violence against women. On the other hand, they do in a sensationalized way, they help to reproduce stereotypes about the women‟s role that they should fulfill in society. The main objective of this research is to examine the journalistic treatment that made the newspapers El Mercurio, El Comercio and El Universo about the femicide of Cristina Suquilanda, Karina del Pozo and Edith Bermeo, respectively. To determine if the approach was sensationalist or included a gender perspective, the researchers used the methodology of Critical Discourse Analysis. It allowed to revealing the discursive constructions that people made about the women‟s violent deaths. Thus, the researchers found that there is not a gender perspective in the news about femicide.
