The objective of this work was to identify the experiences regarding the family economy from a gender perspective with female heads in the Rurcag community of the Sígsig canton in t h e year 2023. To obtain significant data, we carried out a case study, which allowed us to de l v e deeper into a specific topic and examine its complexity and causes, seeking to unde rs t and the social problem from the actors' own perception and experiences, under a mixed research approach, which allowed us to triangulate the quantitative and qualitative information generated, as a result we obtained a better understanding of the research p ro bl em, with a descriptive-exploratory scope, which combined with the theoretical bases of feminist economics allowed a comprehensive analysis from this perspective. The techniques used were the semi-structured interview and the focus group, the following aspects were considered as inclusion and exclusion criteria: women, heads of household, over 18 years of age who live in the community. The work allowed us to understand the economic dyna mi cs and social inequalities that affect this group, and an understanding of their current situ a ti on, in order to propose strategies that promote their economic and social empowerment. The most important result was prioritization of expenses: first food, second education and health, but monthly income is insufficient to cover all of these expenses. None of the interviewees receive a state bonus or other benefit, so this is another disadvantage when it comes to covering the costs demanded by the household.
