Item Incidencia del primer ensayo de internado llevado a cabo en la misión de Indanza entre 1914-1936(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-09-18) Castro Cabrera, Michael Widinson; Durán Maldonado, Keyla TamarThe process of integrating the Amazon region into the Ecuadorian national project required political and religious mediation. 1888 became a key year due to the arrival and intervention of the Salesians. They marked a before and after in the history of Morona Santiago’s territories. First of all, they became mediators between the Shuar and the civilized" world. Furthermore, because they were the ones who made possible a gradual nationalization and ecuatorizacion of the Shuar. In this context, this research has been developed around the mission of Indanza and the subsequent establishment of a boarding school, in 1914. Both the mission and the residential school, defined the bases for the subsequent dynamization of this system throughout the territory of the vicariate. Thus, during the 21 years that the Indanza mission remained in operation, the Salesians focused on working with the Shuar and on colonization planning. Hence, this investigation project attemps to appeal to the voices of the Salesian missionaries, found in historical archives, and to the voices of people who attended the residential school in Indanza or their descendants through interviews. In order to set out the experiences and impacts on the ways of life of the Shuar and on the modification of their territory.
