GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Determine the relationship between the level of physical activity and the percentage of body fat through the application of the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire GPAQ and plicometry in public workers of the Dirección Distrital de Educación 11D01 Loja, 2016. METHODOLOGY: A quantitative, observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted in 65 public workers of both sexes of the Dirección Distrital de Educación 11D01 Loja. The Global Physical Activity Questionnaire GPAQ was used in order to establish the level of physical activity; and skinfold measurement was applied to determine the percentage of body fat by using a plicometer o caliper. It was used SPSS 15.00 and Microsoft Excel for the tabulation, the data presentation, and the statistical analysis. Frequencies and percentages were calculated, as well as the Chi-square and the Pearson's correlation coefficient. RESULTS: There is a significant relationship between the level of physical activity and the percentage of body fat of public workers. The result of the chi-square test presented a p value of 0,008 for male and 0,000 for female workers. In addition, the Pearson´s correlation coeficient was 0,485 for men, and 0,709 for women. This values determine a positive correlation between the variables under study. CONCLUSION: The studied population has low level of physical activity which was obtained through the Global Physical Activity Questionnarie, and this lifestyle is associated to the development of higher percentage of body fat, establishing an inversely proportional relationship between these variables
