(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-12-08) Castillo Cando, Olger Rafael; Loayza Blacio, Josué Oswaldo; Mendoza Eskola, Juanita Catalina
Since the beginning of 2020, our country has been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. Consequently, national and local governments established regulations with the purpose of curbing the spread of the virus. Among the decisions that were carried out, quarantine and social isolation, which was unfavorable for people with small businesses or micro-businesses, since they had no other source of income. In this group are the artisans who obtain their income from the daily sale in their premises. As it was not related to their activity with the supply of basic necessities, they were forced to close their businesses. The purpose of the investigation was to know the manifestations of social vulnerability of the artisan, in the context of a Covid-19 pandemic. The place where the investigation was carried out was the Casa de la Mujer center located in the city of Cuenca in the province of Azuay. A qualitative approach with a transversal exploratory scope was used. We worked with 7 artisans who work in this establishment. As a requirement to participate in the research, they had to have worked in the country since before the start of the pandemic and be associated with Cemuart. Participants were given a semi-structured interview in person in order to learn about their experiences in the context of a pandemic. Among the main findings of the research, it was found that there are different forms of expression of social vulnerability; They can appear as manifestations of helplessness and also through strategies or alternatives to face the situation. As a result of the results obtained, we can conclude that the artisans who work in the Casa de la Mujer center have experienced situations of helplessness, which translate into social vulnerability, as a consequence of the pandemic, considering it as a traumatic event
