(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-08-10) Carrasco Paguay, Ariolfo; Guarquila Méndez, Hugo Adrián; Barreto Andrade, Jorge Antonio
This research has an analytical, correlational, and transversal approach, cataloged in this way, since an association among variables is sought. This investigation used two techniques: the body mass index and the HERZCO method, both facilitated the collection of information. The first technique allowed us to know the body mass of the selected students, whereas the second one provided information about the foot types of the participants through the analysis of the FOTOPODOGRAMA. The population of this study consisted of 270 teenagers from “Víctor Gerardo Aguilar” Educational Institution, with ages ranging from 12 to 14 years old. From this group, 34 students participated in this investigation: 13 boys and 21 girls, aged between 12 years 0 months and 14 years 9 months. To carry out the statistical analysis the corresponding register of the height, weight, and footprint was made. The statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS Statistics software, version 20; meanwhile, for the plantar footprint the KINOVEA software was used. An inverse relationship was revealed in both feet, which indicates that the higher the value of a person’s BMI (Body Mass Index) is, the lower the value of the Hernández Corvo index will be. There was a greater existence of flat feet in the overweight and obesity group, finding a predominance of flat feet in the left foot of the participants
