Item Prevalencia de las alteraciones podales mediante el índice del arco en los alumnos de la Universidad de Cuenca, facultad de Ciencias Médicas, escuela de Tecnología Médica, marzo-septiembre 2015(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-11-11) Campoverde Burgos, Kiara Belén; Cardoso Viracucha, Carlos Israel; Ordoñez Lucero, Mayra Alejandra; Suárez Peñafiel, Pedro FernandoGeneral objective: to determine the prevalence in the alteration of the foot, through the index arch evaluation method in the alumni of the University of Cuenca, faculty of medicine arts, technological medicine school, March-September 2015. Methodology: The type of investigation used for this paper is the descriptive prospective cross-sectional cohort. The scoring method was done through fingerprinting of the toes and also throgh the application of the index formula of the arch described by Cavanagh and Rodgers. The study was applied to 259 students of the technological Medical school from the University of Cuenca, they were taken from the different Majors and semesters that were enrolled in that period. The results were presented in tables and graphs using descriptive statistics mean, mode, median and standard deviation in the statistical program SPSS 21 Results: The scores obtained during the assessment were 34.4% of the students had arched feet, 52.5% normal foot , on the other hand, 13.1% had plane foot, according to the index of the right arch and 35.5% presented arched feet, a normal foot while 54.1% had normal foot while a 10.4% had flat foot noted by the left index Arch; in terms of the relationship with BMI and sex variables are not statistically significant except for BMI Index right arch giving a value of p = 0.01. Conclusions: The assessment conducted by the Arc index showed preciseness to get a result since its purpose was not only to display visually but also to calculate the data obtained using a formula
