Aprovechamiento de los residuos agrícolas provenientes del cultivo de banano para obtener nanocelulosa
(2014) Carchi Maurat, David Esteban; Cazar Ramírez, María Elena
Cellulose is a ubiquitous material that can be extracted from any organism of the plant kingdom and it is a part of banana crops residue. Ecuador is one of the main banana producers of the world. The residues produced in this industrial culture may yield profit by means of cellulose extraction. Nanometric cellulose shows outstanding properties that can be used to create new materials with unique properties. The present work introduces theoretical and practical bases to produce nanocellulose from banana crops residues. Grand Cavendish banana variety was studied. Our results shows that pseudostem and flower stem have 37.85 % and 26.86 % of cellulose; respectively besides nanocrystalline cellulose was produced with an aspect ratio of 16.16using acid hydrolysis.
