Adolescence is a complex time for human beings due to the evolutionary changes that occur. For this reason, it is essential to exercise adequate parental skills that generate positive parenting, which is considered a parenting practice supported by the well-being of children. The general objective of this research is to determine the frequencies of parental competencies of parents of adolescents in the Unified General Baccalaureate. Furthermore, it seeks to identify the frequencies in which parental competencies are located and describe the frequencies of parental competencies in parents according to sociodemographic data. This study responds to a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental cross sectional research design, with a descriptive scope. Forty parents of first, second and third high school students from the República de Chile Educational Unit participated in this research, to whom the Positive Parenting Scale E2P V.2 was applied. The results obtained indicate that, according to the behavior of parental skills, the majority of parents are in a risk zone and a smaller percentage are in an optimal zone.
