(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-05) Campozano Franco, Katherine Janneth; Guzmán Jiménez, Alfonsina del Rocío
The parent-child relationship is the first relationship established by all human beings, it is therefore seen as essential for emotional development, it significantly influences the parenting style used by parents and the future relationships of children depend on it. That said, the purpose of the research is to determine the effects of parenting styles on the parent-child relationships of students of the Family Guidance degree, at the University of Cuenca, period September 2024-February 2025, as a methodology a quantitative and descriptive approach is applied, using a nonexperimental cross-sectional design, with a sample of 114 students between the ages of early adulthood, applying the ENE-H Norms and Demands Test and the CaMir-R Attachment Questionnaire. Regarding the results, the inductive (authoritative) parenting style was most commonly used with 71.1% in the case of the father and 70.2% in the case of the mother. In addition, in parent-child relationships a positive relationship was assessed in the dimensions of security, availability, support, value of authority, parental permissiveness, and negative relationships were assessed in the dimensions of family concern, parental interference, selfsufficiency, resentment towards parents, and childhood trauma. Finally, it can be said that the effects of parenting styles on parent-child relationships are positive in the case of the father obtaining security, availability and support from the parent and the effects of parenting styles on the parent-child relationship are negative in the case of the mother showing childhood trauma.
