Item Niveles de insatisfacción de la imagen corporal en mujeres de 15 a 17 años de una Unidad Educativa de la ciudad de Cuenca, periodo 2023 - 2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-02-16) Campoverde Verdugo, Vanessa Carolina; Izquierdo Toledo, Ana Paula; Auquilla Guzmán, Alvaro FabiánBody image dissatisfaction is often related to a sense of discontent towards one's own body, image, or physical appearance, considered a problem stemming from societal and cultural ideals. This issue tends to affect adolescents from early ages and increases during the transition from adolescence to adulthood, with women being more prone to developing body image dissatisfaction. This research was conducted to determine the levels of body image dissatisfaction in women from an educational institution in the city of Cuenca. The study follows a quantitative, approach, non-experimental, cross-sectional desing with descriptive scope. The participants were 151 individuals aged 15 to 17. The Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) with Colombian validation was used, along with a sociodemographic form incorporating Age, Physical Activity, and Body Mass Index. The procedure was carried out using the SPSS program. The results indicated that, overall, the participants did not exhibit dissatisfaction with body image. However, it is important to note that the results range between scores indicating absence and extreme dissatisfaction with body image. Therefore, it is concluded that there are no significant percentage differences in terms of levels, with physical activity being a relevant variable in relation to body image.
