    El deporte como factor protector en el desarrollo personal en drogodependencia en post-tratamiento

    The present research is a qualitative design, with an exploratory-descriptive level, whose aim was to know the importance of sport as a protective factor in the personal development of drug addiction in the after-treatment phase. A semi-structured interview was used as instrument, whose elaboration was based on the theoretical framework , in which there are several authors who addressed the physical activity and the drug addictions. The interview was applied to 20 drug-dependent after-reatment men aged between 18 until the 65 years old that attended to the therapeutic community Hacia una Nueva Vida of the city of Cuenca . The results have shown that sport is a feasible element to avoid future relapses, moreover that sport is a component that serves as an emotional stabilizer, improves self-esteem, self-efficacy, self-control, communication and assertiveness skills. It was also found that sport is a viable tool in the treatment of drug addiction as the individual manages to recover skills, develops new attitudes and knowledge important for personal development
