The pediatric emergency area of the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital, IESS, in Cuenca, Ecuador, is a vital space that responds to the growing demand for care, especially for children with specific and priority needs. Given this reality, the need for an interior design proposal that transformed the area into a functional and visually attractive environment became evident. The main objective of the project was to create a space that not only opti- mizes efficiency in care, but also provides a differentiated and appropriate experience for pediatric patients and their families. To achieve this, a de- sign was implemented that prioritizes correct circulation and flow between spaces, facilitating the work of medical staff and guaranteeing the safety of users. Signage, adapted for children, is essential in the orientation and peace of mind of patients. Additionally, the project is characterized by a universal design approach, ensuring that the space is accessible and comfortable for all users, regardless of their abilities. Inspired by the fluidity and movement of nature, the concept is reflected in furniture, ceilings and play of lights that evoke a feeling of dynamism and are visually attractive to children. The carefully selected color palette seeks to generate an environment of well-being and trust, helping to reduce the stress and anxiety that often accompany hospital visits.
