Emotional Intelligence is an ability through which you can recognize your own feelings and other people’s feelings. Emotional Intelligence let people to adapt, in a better way, to the environment in which they are developing. For this reason, it has become one of the most popular topics among work, social, and academic fields. Some research about the topic has demonstrated that it is not always the best student who has success in life, existing other factors as the emotional intelligence that have a great impact. How to control and regulate emotions is an ability that not all people have. This is the reason of this research; the main objective of this investigation is to describe the levels of EI among students from the Faculty of Psychology in the University of Cuenca. The research had a quantitative approach, cross sectional design, and a descriptive scope. Three hundred eighty nine students from first to tenth semester of the Faculty of Psychology participated in the investigation. To collect data, we used the Emotional Intelligence Inventory from Doctor Zoe Bello Davila (2010). This inventory has 38 items divided into four dimensions whose purpose is to measure the EI variable. The results obtained from the students’ sample who participated in the research demonstrated that most students are in the development area, followed by the strength area and a little part from the sample is in the weakness area.
