    Percepción de satisfacción sobre la imagen corporal en adolescentes de 15 a 17 años en la Unidad Educativa ‘La Asunción’, Cuenca 2018

    The present paper "Perception of satisfaction about body image in adolescents aged 15 to 17 years in "La Asunción" High School from Cuenca city, 2018", has as main objective to establish the possible relationships between satisfaction/dissatisfaction, self-perception, assessment of body image and body mass index in middle-age adolescents (15-17 years). The methodological work is descriptive and cross-sectional, based on a quantitative study collection and presentation of numerical and statistical data. The documentary literature review, the surveys and the calculation of Body Mass Index (BMI) have been used as research techniques. The instruments used are: Body Image Questionnaire (CIC) and Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) taken and adapted from López, Solé and Cortés (2008), applied to a sample of 242 adolescents (121 women and 121 men). Results have been processed in the Microsoft Excel 2016. The conclusions determined that, in the middle adolescence stage, women tend to worry more about the image that their body projects, with which, their level of satisfaction with body image is lower compared to males of the same age. This, due to the alienation of messages they receive from the media, from their peers and society in general, in which slimness is considered as a canon of beauty; In addition, it is one of the main causes of risks associated with uncontrolled diets that affect your health.
