In the research and artistic production project entitled “Camuflaje,” the cultural hybridization in the costumes and jewelery is made evident, mainly reflected in a series of 6 author's portraits inspired by the imaginary of the city of Cuenca. With these images the symbolism present in traditional clothing and the way it has been transformed and even extinguished due to globalization is depicted. What happens in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador is analyzed, through a field study — it was possible to collect photographic information to know the festive characters that have lasted through time. Every year in the month of December, the celebration of “El Pase del Niño Viajero” (The Traveler Child’s Pass) takes place. This is an event of great folklore and traditions rooted in the city. It was possible to obtain a photographic record that exemplifies the essence of culture, being at the same time a source of inspiration for the future production, post-production and exhibition of the “Camuflaje” project.
