Estimación de valores de contaminación difusa para el río Tomebamba en zonas periféricas y urbanas. Primera Aproximación
(2015) Cajas Parra, Valeria Andrea; Cisneros Espinoza, Felipe Eduardo
The present research was developed in the city of Cuenca in the rivers Tomebamba, Tarqui and Yanuncay. The most important parameters of water quality: Biochemical demand of Oxygen (DBO), Coliforms and Dissolved Oxygen(OD) were modeled to assess diffuse contamination in the study area. For the study there was established a network of monitoring of thirteen pointsalong three rivers, which comprise three places of continuous monitoring and tenplaces of punctual contamination. Two samplings were realized in different seasons (rain and drought). The developed mathematical model, is based on the equation of Streeter andPhelps: the same one that has allowed to obtain the transport of punctual pollutantsto places of continuous monitoring. This model has been already calibrated and verified in previous studies so that it is possible to obtain reliable values. Finally there were obtained values of diffuse contamination of the main variables of water quality in the Tomebamba river earlier and after the urban area of the city of Cuenca. With this project it will be possible to have the first approach of values of diffuse contamination in the river.
