Item Optimizando el rendimiento: un enfoque integral para mejorar la condición física a través de un programa de entrenamiento en el Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos Voluntarios de la ciudad de Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-05-26) Pérez Jadán, Amanda Soledad; Rivera Rivera, Daniel Paúl; Cajarma Naula, Rosa SusanaThe study focuses on the rigorous physical demands that firefighters face during their professional interventions, emphasizing the need for a specific training plan to improve their physical condition. The goal of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of a training program (HICT) aimed at the work of physical condition to optimize performance in the Benemérito Fire Department of Cuenca. To do this, a quasi-experimental design of a correlational type was adopted, which included two evaluations: one before the intervention (pre-test) and another at the end of the program (post-test), evaluating various physical aptitudes. The study sample consisted of 30 firefighters in active service from two specific stations, who participated in the HICT program for 8 weeks. Statistical analyses of the data collected were carried out through the pre- and post- intervention evaluations, comparing the averages to determine the significant impact of the program. The results showed statistically significant improvements (p<0.05), highlighting in the following aspects: Average resistance increased from 674.33 m to 2319.67 m; Speed improved from 10.97 s to 7.00 s; Horizontal jump increased from 1.96 m to 2.04 m; Abdominals rose from 33.30 repetitions to 39.93 repetitions; and Push-ups went from 41.97 repetitions to 46.27 repetitions. The implementation of this program resulted in a notable increase in the physical capacity of firefighters, optimizing their performance for the demands of their professional work. These findings confirm that HICT training is an effective program for the improvement of physical condition, suggesting its application in its other stations.
