Item Equipamiento hotelero energéticamente eficiente en la zona de la Ordoñez Lasso, Cuenca, Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-06) Cajamarca Morocho, Liliana Maritza; Morales Torres, Karina Estefania; Zalamea León, Esteban FelipeHotel facilities play a fundamental role in the tourism sector of cities, and Cuenca is no exception. However, according to UNEP (2023), the construction industry is responsible for 37% of greenhouse gas emissions, and hotels contribute to this statistic during their building phase. Moreover, their operation presents a significant energy demand as a result of the pursuit of comfort for guests. This proposal presents a hotel facility at the level of an architectural preliminary project, incorporating energy consumption reduction strategies in the Ordoñez Lasso area of Cuenca, Ecuador. The objective is to reduce energy consumption by integrating solar panels to meet the highest energy demands. Additionally, techniques such as calicostrado for walls and low- impact concrete for the structure are implemented. The methodology included research on sustainable designs at both local and international levels, as well as a review of the relevant regulations and guidelines in the study area to ensure the proposal complies with Cuenca’s ordinance and the regulations governing hotel design. Furthermore, an analysis of the energy consumption of several hotels in the city was conducted as a reference. In this way, the preliminary project contributes to responsible and sustainable tourism, ensuring guest comfort. The solar panels produce 92,66 MWh per year, generating approximately 38,57% more energy than required, thus positively contributing to the city through its operation.
