    Frecuencia de hiperbilirrubinemia por incompatibilidad ABO en recién nacidos. Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca. 2014 -2015

    BACKGROUND: Jaundice in the newborn is a physiological phenomenon, but sometimes it is the expression of a pathological state. It may be present at birth or may appear at any point in the neonatal period (1). OBJECTIVE: To identify the characteristics of hyperbilirubinemia due to ABO incompatibility in newborns at Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the years 2014 and 2015. METHODS: The present proyect is retrospective and descriptive. The universe studied was 204 cases of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia due to ABO incompatibility were found in the areas of pediatrics and neonatology at Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2015. The Data were collected on their form, while their analysis was performed with Excel 2013 and SPSS v22. RESULTS: 204 cases were obtained, 95.6% of cases belonged to infants admitted between 0 and 15 days. The female sex was the most affected with 55.9%; Neonates with ideal weight were more affected with the disease with 76% of cases. Fifty percent of affected infants presented Kramer's IV on physical examination; meanwhile laboratory tests, 91.7% of cases were found with Coombs direct negative and 65.2% of cases with> 15mg / dL. As for maternal history, 67.2% of the cases were of young adult mothers, 88.7% of cases did not consume medication associated with the disease, and 89.2% presented O blood group
