Item Prevalencia de anemia y factores de riesgo asociados en embarazadas que acuden a consulta externa del Área de Salud Nº 1 Pumapungo. Cuenca 2012-2013(2013) Albán Silva, Stefany Elena; Caicedo Romero, Janneth Catalina; Ñauta Baculima, Manuel JaimeAntecedents: Anemia during pregnancy is a common condition in Ecuador is 60% due to the physiological changes of pregnancy and nutritional deficiency, which can alter the development of the newborn such as low birth weight, premature, neonatal anemia, among others. Objective: To determine the prevalence of anemia and associated risk factors in pregnant women attending outpatient Health Area No. 1 Pumapungo. Cuenca 2012. Methodology: Cross-sectional study of prevalence, held in the Health Area No. 1 Pumapungo. Basin, with 376 pregnant women, 2012. Results: In 376 cases of anemia prevalence is 5.58% and adjusted Hb (<12.3g/dl) is 41.8 %, the largest degree of anemia is mild 61 %, followed by moderate 39 % and there were no severe cases. The factors taken risk association for anemia are: gestational age, OR 3.4; rural residence, OR 2.15 and the level of literacy and primary education, OR 1.63. Conclusions: The prevalence of anemia in this study differs from that published in national and international literature, demonstrating an association with factors initially raised except multiparity, BMI and marital status.
